My new favorite sport

Do you know what this is a picture of?
Russ invited my dad and Brent to go golfing Friday afternoon after work. Brent wasn't able to go and Russ said maybe he would take Garrett. Then Russ asked me if I wanted to go instead. I said, "Sure". I have my own set of clubs, but I have never used them. I inherited them when my great-Aunt, Millie, died a few years ago. I played a lot with my dad when I was growing up, but haven't played in 15 years.

We played at the St. George Golf Course. My first few hits were atrocious. I apologized to my dad and Russ and said, "This is going to be a really long night". My dad started coaching me, "Keep your hands ahead of the ball, eyes on the back of the ball." , "You're raising up, keep your head down.", "Tee your ball up a little higher", "Use a bigger club and choke up on the shaft". I started hitting the ball pretty good, considering I haven't played in a decade and a half.

I think I double bogeyed or triple bogeyed the first couple of holes. I did a little better on the third hole. The fourth hole was a short par 3, over a pond. From the women's tee it was 99 yards. I teed up and hit the ball with my 7 iron. It hit the green, bounced twice and hit the flag stick. However, I noticed that it did not bounce off of the stick. When we got up close, we realized...

I GOT A HOLE-IN-ONE! It was amazing. The flag stick had pinned the ball against the side of the cup, just long enough for us to take a picture. Then the wind blew slightly, just enough to barely move the flag, and my ball fell right into the cup. A legitimate hole-in-one. I had two witnesses who saw it, Russ and my dad, and so the golf pro is going to report it in the newspaper. For years and years, all I have heard is how hard the game of golf is. Well, I don't know what everyone is whining about... I thought it was kinda easy. (HAHAHA)

What I really think happened? Aunt Millie could feel I was using her old clubs and gave me a little nudge today from up above. If so, Thanks Millie- I promise to take good care of your clubs and use them often.

Congratulations! This is all Dad could talk about all night. He first talked about how mad he was that he has never gotten a hole-in-one in all the years he's played golf and then you did the very first thing...but the truth is, I think he is very proud. He'll have fun talking about this for years to come. I'm glad he got to see it. As far as Aunt Millie goes...hmmmm, could be.

Good for you! That's awesome! I think you Little girls are just naturals at everything you set out and try. As for me NOPE! I'm just not saying this, it's the honest to goodness truth...NOTHING comes easy to me AT ALL!!! I admire those who have natural abilities at things. I'd have love to have seen Russ and your dad's faces. I bet they were like, what the crap? I'd love to do that to Brian just once! Congrats to you on your great day of golf:)
