New to our family are Lulu and Jessica, Gracie's imaginary friends. Until tonight, they have been great friends to Gracie. They let her win every race, take the blame for every mess that is made, follow her wherever she goes, and best of all they let her boss them around (for THAT is what Gracie does best). However, tonight I think they have had enough. The events happened like this...
Earlier, I told Gracie that she needed to go and clean her room. She told me that Lulu and Jessica had made the mess. I told her that she needed to go and clean it anyway. Tonight I asked Gracie to go in her room and finish cleaning. She told me that she needed help. I was busy cleaning the kitchen after dinner, so I told her to ask Lulu and Jessica to help her. After a couple of minutes she came back into the kitchen and said, "My imaginary friends told me that they don't work on Fridays". Typical of those imaginary friends... all play, no work. I told Gracie to imagine some new friends that know how to WORK and don't make messes. You have to admit she is pretty dang creative!
However, Lulu and Jessica have the right idea... I think I might adopt their philosophy. The newest rule in the Russ Hyde Family:
MOM DOESN'T WORK ON FRIDAYS!!!
By the way...Can you see Jessica and Lulu in the photo?... because they are there.

Kami told me about your blog so I am stalking it! I totally was laughing outloud and Eric thought I was laughing at the TV show he is was watching. Gracie, how cute are you? I love it. That explains why my house gets so messy so fast!!!
Gracie is so cute. The boys think she looks like our cousin Claire. So, when they see her picture they say, "that Lucy's cousin." because their cousins are only boys.
Tell her that I think her best friends are pretty. I can totally see them. I wish my kids had invisible friends. Then they would always have a friend over to play and would stop the constant nagging at me to invite someone over.
I think that my new imaginary friend LOVES to work. I think that Humphrey will be in my office all week finishing up registration, designing shirts, taking bribes, answering phone calls that contain lots of four letter words, etc. If you are looking for me...well I will be sleeping in and going for long restful walks. Humphrey has got my back!
This imaginary friend thing is BRILLIANT!!
