Up, up, and never mind... just run really fast

Gracie performed at the Kite Festival in April.  It was her last Sunset Express performance for the year.  After she was done singing, I took her down to receive her kite.  If the students in St. George read for 20 minutes each day for 3 months, they earn a free kite which they can fly at the kite festival.  Gracie picked out a really colorful butterfly kite with long ribbons.  The only problem was, there was absolutely NO WIND.  Usually there is some kind of slight breeze blowing, but on this particular day there was not a single movement in the leaves of the trees.  It was as still as could be.

Gracie did not let that deter her from "flying" her kite.  She just unwound a small amount of string and RAN really fast all through the neighborhood.  She had a huge smile on her face and was SUPER EXHAUSTED by the time the day was over.  Well if anything, it made for some cute pictures.

Congratulations to Gracie! She is such a good reader and I know that's because her mom has read to her for her entire life. That is such a blessing that she will realize more and more as she gets older.

Funny thing is I can see her just running all around pulling that thing behind her.
