Say What?

Help!

Little Lou has lost her hearing. I am getting so worried. I took her to the doctor 5 weeks ago because we noticed that she could not hear a thing. She had ear infections and tons of fluid behind her eardrums. Our pediatrician put her on an antibiotic and scheduled us to come back in a month for a follow up. A month later she still couldn't hear. We went to the follow up appointment and the doctor said she still had tons of fluid behind the eardrums. He said to bring her back in 6 weeks if she still couldn't hear. It is getting so frustrating. She misunderstands everything we say to her. For instance, I will say, "Lou, pick up your shoes". She will respond, "I'm not acting like I'm two". I will say, "Go brush your teeth". "No, I don't have mud on my feet". The other part of the problem is that she talks very loud! She screams when telling me a story. I have to keep saying, "I am right here. You do not need to yell at me". Anyway, we are praying she gets over this and that it really is just fluid behind the eardrums. Until then, anyone got any ear plugs for her mommy?

Poor little Gracie. I'm so sad that she can't hear, I'm worried about her too. If your family (on your husband's side) had a better hearing history, I wouldn't be quite so concerned, but....Be patient with her, think about how frustrated she must be.
