Sunday Six

I am following the crowd, joining the family, keeping the tradition, caving to pressure... whatever you want to call it. My family has been doing this for a while and I have STUBBORNLY RESISTED. It is not that I am not grateful. I just didn't want to commit to a weekly post. I have a hard time with commitment. But, it is a new year, with lofty new resolutions, and maybe new traditions. We'll see. This may be a one time thing. Anyway, here goes... the 6 things I am grateful for most this week:

1. I am so grateful for modern medicine. This week my friend's 40 year old husband underwent open-heart surgery for an aortic aneurysm the size of a small potato. First of all, it was a miracle that they even discovered he had it- and even more miraculous that he was able to EASILY glide through the surgery. Also, my co-worker's friend also delivered a 1 pound baby this week (at 27 weeks) due to pre-eclampsia. The baby is doing well and expected to be fine. AMAZING! The drugs and technology we have available these days are such blessings.

2. I am grateful for new babies being welcomed into the world... both of which are NOT mine. There are two pregnancies that I am so excited about. Although it is not my place to announce them, I am thrilled for the families that are expecting. Congrats!

3. I am grateful for a new children's book series... Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I love when I find fun books that I can read aloud to my kids. We read the first book (The Lightening Thief) in just a few days and have now started the second book (The Sea of Monsters). It is easier to read to your kids when you actually enjoy the book yourself. Books have come a long way... or maybe I just enjoy them more as an adult.

4. I am grateful for blogging and the opportunity I have to keep up with my friends and family that don't live near by. I feel like I know my friends and family so much better through blogging.

5. I am grateful the holidays are over. I love the Christmas season- the decorations, the music, the lights, the giving, the traditions, etc. I love the beginning of the new year. The feeling of a "new start" and new resolutions. But to be perfectly honest, I am ready for my darling children to get back to school and begin basketball. They have been cooped up for too long. They need more activities. Tomorrow, life will be back to normal. AAAHHHHHH!

6. I am grateful for Dr. Beckstrom, braces removed, and a beautifully straight smile. Garrett got his braces off on Tuesday. His teeth look great. We still have more to come, but the initial phase is over. I am thankful his teeth moved so quickly and that it was a pleasant experience for him. Dr. Beckstrom and his staff are fabulous.

See, that wasn't so hard...I loved every word! You did a great job and there's no commitment but I think you might find it rewarding to look for things during the week that you can write about on Sunday. It's really fun!!

That was beautiful Kori. I loved reading it. I wish I knew who the other expectant family is. PS... Karen would like you to remove word verification. She just hates it.

I think I have figured out how to turn off the word verification. Hmmm. We will see if it works. Just for you Sophia! I don't want you to stop leaving comments because of that silly thing ;)
