In the 5th grade, the kids are challenged to
1. Write the Pledge of Allegiance
2. Sign (as in Sign Language) the Pledge of Allegiance
3. Recite the Preamble to the Constitution
4. Recite or sing The Star Spangled Banner
5. Recite the names of the U.S. Presidents in the order they served
6. Name and locate the 50 states as well as the capitals
7. Locate the USA and continents on the world map
8. Recite the Gettysburg Address
9. Recite a line from the Declaration of Independence
10. Recite the symbols of the USA (birthdate, motto, symbol, flower, flag, freedom, and song)
11. Recite the symbols of the State of Utah
12.Recite the symbols of "Old Glory"
Are you smarter than a 5th grader? How many of those requirements can you meet? Only about 30 kids between the 4 classes that earned the award. Good job Grant for working hard to be one them! They had a big program at the school where the kids that earned the award received a t-shirt and medal. They sang songs (Grant had a little solo part and did a great job), recited many of the things they had learned, and showed a slide show of the kids re-enacting the
Gracie- for earning an Excellence in Math award. 
Good job Little Lou. Not only cute, but smart also. Gracie works hard in school, gets her homework done, reads regularly. It was nice for the school to recognize her efforts.
Garrett- for earning his Life Scout Rank. 
His next rank is Eagle. That means Eagle Project is coming up this summer... sounds fun? Anyone going to be around in say May/June?

You have so much to be proud of with your family and as a mom of boys raising good boys is not always easy! So good job you! They are darling kids and the men look adorable in those uniforms! {on another off the wall note} I love how your daughter is sitting on the counter. I used to love to do that when I was little!
