Last weekend, Russ took the boys fishing on the Provo River. He had bought Garrett a new fly-rod and they took that with them. He gave Garrett the rod and told him where to fish. Garrett threw out a couple of casts to a fish they saw rising. On his fourth cast, he hooked a fish... a nice, BIG brown trout. Garrett did it all by himself, with no help from Russ. I think it was one of the happiest days of Russ' life.
It was a very successful day trip. They had left at 4:00 am and got home at 10:30 pm. It was at 10:30 pm upon returning to St. George, when Russ realized that Grant had left our camera (nice lens, polarized filter, flash, etc.) on the bank of the Provo River. Grant had set the camera down to dig a hole and forgot all about the camera. So, Russ and the kids (I had to work the next morning) got up again at 4:00 am and drove back to Provo. They found the camera right where Grant had left it. I am not sure what possessed Russ to put an 8 year old (with some form of A.D.D.- like his dad) in charge of camera equipment that cost more than my car (Well, we got a great deal on my car- but anyway)... I think he learned his lesson.

What a darling picture of Garrett! Oh my gosh, I have talked to you several times this week, even seen you, and no mention of the return trip to Provo! What an ordeal! I'm so happy they found the camera, etc. Poor Grant, he's so sweet, I can hardly stand the thought of this happening to him. I wish they had a place closer to home where they could fish.
Yeah a new post and what a darling photo. I bet your hubby loves his chip off the ole block. Seems I have seen similar pics of him holding fish the exact same way. Too cute and what great memories. (except the going back part) but how great that the camera was still there. Your family is darling! I check your blog often and just love when you have new posts! Happy Weekend. Hugs Karen~
wow! what a catch!!
Life keeps you hopping in the Hyde Family. Two trips to Provo on the same day. Wow. Congratulations to Garrett. What a catch! I bet Grant was having a good time, too.
Remember your sister who lives very, very near Provo?? Remember her? She certainly could have driven up there in search of that camera. That is why I moved up here. So that you all would have a PLACE TO STAY when you are HERE and to be incharge of forgotten Northern Utah items. Geez!!! Hopefully Uncle Steiner paid for the gas on that extra eight hour journey. See ya next time you are here.... Oh wait.... maybe not!!!
I cant believe the size of that fish! Kori you are a really good mom. Your kids are happy, well adjusted and good hearted. I know you instill those values in your kids. I cant believe you did not tell me about the camera thing...Holy Cow....I bet Russ did that on purpose so they could go up and fish again! Did they?
Nope- Russ will not fish on Sundays. Never has. They just drove up, got the camera, and drove home. Crazy, I know.
I love that picture! He looks just like RUSS! also it was a sweet story about Grant...my heart was breaking for him! I am glad he received an answer to his prayer and that all was fine!
Congrats to Garrett!! That fish is awesome. Good Job! I feel bad about the camera ordeal. I wish you would have called. I have a brother in Provo, that would love a Sunday drive up provo canyon. They have church at 8am and then nothing all day! oh well. I am sure it is hard to describe to someone where on the river you were. Thanks for the update-- if it weren't for bogs I wouldn't know what you were up to. Isn't that sad??
I can only imagine how Russ reacted!!!! That's awesome...you've had bad luck with your camera lately!!! Way to go Garrett!!!
What a great trip for Garrett and Grant with dad. Russ will be so great and helpful with Garret in boyscouts. I can't believe he is 11 now and in boyscouts already. Glad you got your camera. Your life is always so busy and hectic and yet you always look so great and stress-free.
I just want to say again how much I LOVE this picture of Garrett and how much I LOVE him!! He is such a special boy, I feel blessed to be his grandmother!
VERY cute new background, Kori. Where's the new post???
