My boys just returned home from their annual fishing trip to Yellowstone National Park. Every year on July 15th (the opener of the Yellowstone River) Russ, Garrett, Grant and "uncle" Chris (A.K.A. Turtlehead) venture 11 hours North for a few days of fishing. It is the one fishing trip I look forward to the most. Gracie and I get a few days with no stinky boys. I have a little more comfort in knowing that Chris is there to help take care of the boys. Although, I begin questioning my comfort when my boys come home talking of "fart football" and "pressed ham" (DON'T ASK!) Thank you Uncle Chris! This year the boys saw so much wildlife. Grant was very excited to tell me every type of animal they saw. Each year they get a wildlife check list as they enter the park. This year they were able to see almost all of the animals on the list. I have to admit I was a little nervous to see that they were so close to grizzly bears (the very reason "Aunt" Carie does not go on this vacation). These are pictures that Russ took with our camera... a little too close!

The fishing was great! They were able to fish all of their favorite rivers: The Yellowstone, Slough Creek, and the Soda Butte. Garrett and Grant are getting to the age and ability that Russ can give them each a rod and let them fish on their own. Supposedly, they are getting quite good. Garrett needs very little assistance. Grant just needs help when he falls in the river! Oh my. Sometimes the less I know is best. Here are the fishing trophies-

At the end of the trip they are EXHAUSTED

Wow-those pictures are amazing!! Nice catch Grant and Garret. Your turning out to be great fisherboys:)
Awesome pictures of the wildlife. The boys must have had so much fun in Yellwstone this year. Too bad we missed them as they drove by Island Park.
These are great pictures and what cute kids!! The bear shots are a little intimidating and I also heard there was a wolf nearby, but who cares when there's fish to be caught! The boys will never forget these wonderful experiences, however, I DO hope they forget some of the things taught to them by "Uncle Chris"!!
Wow Kori,
Knowing what you know about me I was very disturbed to think of your poor little Grant and Garrett so close to a MASSIVE bear! I really hope you had a teloscopic lens on your camera and that Russ was on the other side of the mountain from that bear...and buffalo for that matter!
They look like they had so much fun! I'm excited to read more of your blogs!
I hate bears!!!! That is so freaky that they came so close to them. that's cool that Russ is still fishing. I remember him practicing his fly fishing on the sidewalk on 100 W in Provo...hahaha. It's fun seeing what you guys are up to. Kori, are you still the work out queen, and running in races and all that?
Woe! Russ and his bears... that is crazy! That is so cool that the boys get to go fishing with their dad like that. And I know how much you like their trip. So, who is already planning next year? You or them?
